17. M83 - Intro (feat. Zola Jesus)
“Intro” would fly off the ground if Zola Jesus didn’t swallow it back. The glimmering synths are as vast as the album that will follow, and the shouts of an ethereal world push the boundaries of the track as away as my immersion in the track pushes me in. It’s like piercing into the ground and finding sky in the surface and no further ground below. The drums hurriedly push into the song like they don’t have enough space and Zola’s hollering voice transcends the time of her short feature. In fact, I like thinking that every sound in “Intro” is just the world echoing to Zola Jesus’ uttering. There’s so many things going on in “Intro”, it’s like a planet opening up.
I’m clearly overwhelmed by this track. As huge as “Intro” is, it feels like no time had passed by the moment it’s finished. It’s like I had spent 5 minutes in another universe.
